As we approach mid-terms, we know that all of you are fully immersed in the frenzy of September in Ann Arbor! Finding your way around, meeting new people, checking out the social scene, updating your resume, and figuring out what Michigan needs to do to win the Big 10 Championship all make for a lot to do during September.

Of course, your priority in the midst of all of this needs to be classes, homework, papers and exams. While you may be used to thinking of the Office of Student life as the place that focuses on SGA, the club scene, and social activities, we also realize that the flurry of activity that Fall A now is can come dangerously close to overwhelming you. On the chance that you are one of the many students who is letting us know that the schedule has more items than hours, I have provided below some resources which might come in handy if you need help balancing coursework, have found yourself needing additional guidance with a particular course, or just need someone to talk to.

Of course, you are always welcome and encouraged to stop by my office in D2201 to talk about your schedule or any of the resources below. Second year students can often be great resources for first years, having been around the block once already. Finally, keep your eyes open for Executive Skills workshops on a variety of topics that may help you to be more effective in managing your time and priorities.

If you are in need of additional assistance for a particular course, be sure to take the following steps:

*Check CTools sites for your courses. Many faculty post tutoring options there as well as office hours.

*Check the department's web site. Some departments have course-sequencing suggestions listed, but also list ways to get tutoring help.

*Schedule advising time with your instructor. If you sense that you need more time, don't hesitate to request this. Generally, facultyare very flexible in scheduling student contact time.

*Get a study buddy! If you are having trouble finding one, enlist the instructor's help in making a generalized request for study partners, etc.

Specifically for BBA academic questions and support, be sure to check in with the BBA Program Office. We have two outstanding resources to help with academic advising, Rob Koonce (615-8855) and Katie McCartney (615-7395).

For Financial Aid questions or concerns, please contact Diane Hunt (764-5139).
