The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan is searching for students who have what it takes to climb the corporate ladder and be a part of its new Michigan Apprentice program. The program will award seven lucky students an opportunity to spend a day shadowing one of seven high-profile Michigan alumni at his or her company or organization.

The program is open to all current U-M juniors, seniors and grad students who are interested in gaining insight into their field of interest and learning about what it takes to succeed in today's marketplace from one of these Michigan success stories:

• David Brandon, '74, CEO, Domino's Pizza, Inc.

• Randy and Jason Sklar, '94, comedians and hosts of ESPN Classic's "Cheap Seats"

• Joe Schwarz, '59, HLLD'03, member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the 7th district of Michigan.

• Aaron Dworkin, '97, MMUS'98, founder and president of Sphinx Organization for minorities in the classical arts.

• Harvey Briggs, '82, executive vice president and director of innovation for Lindsay, Stone and Briggs

• Linda McFall, '89, senior editor of Mira Books (a division of Harlequin books)

• Mary Kay Haben, MBA'79, group vice president, Kraft Foods North America

Students can apply for the one-day, all-expense paid internship on the Alumni Association Web site (http://alumni.umich.edu/students/michapp.php). The application process begins Monday, March 20, and ends Monday, April 3. Based on information provided in the application, a committee of Alumni Association staff will select three finalists for each internship position. After that, it's up to students to vote for one winner for each position. A brief background on each of the finalists will be posted on the Alumni Association Web site until voting ends and the winners are announced on Friday, April 14.

"The Alumni Association believes it's important for our students to have an opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom in the real world," said Steve Grafton, president, Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. "The Michigan Apprentice program is just one of the ways we are helping our students to network and learn from one of the University's biggest assets-its alumni."
