Have you wondered why so many people are walking around the business school with beards/patchy facial hair these days?

Rosstache is a month-long charity event where Ross MBA students grow out their facial hair, culminating in a final judging event on April 3rd at the RSA Scorekeepers Happy Hour. Rosstache is the singular event of the Ross Burt Reynolds Club, named after our patron saint of the 'stache, Mr. Burt Reynolds. All members of the Ross Burt Reynolds Club were inducted starting on March 4th with the taking of a clean-shaven picture. Since then, all members have been growing out their facial hair to the best of their abilities.

Don't worry, ladies, we haven't forgotten about you though. We'll be selling t-shirts and fake mustaches that anyone can purchase. All females will be invited to submit a picture of themselves wearing their mustache for a chance to be crowned "Best Female Supporter of the "Stache." This lucky female will also be invited on stage after our final judging event to shave off the mustache of our "Shave-It ASAP" winner.

Rosstache, now in its third year, has given over $6,000 to deserving charities over the last two years; this year we are well on the way to trumping that combined number! We are proud to announce our first major donation of $1,500 from the folks at Woodbury Gardens, who will be the title sponsor this year! This is but the first step towards our goal of amassing at least $10,000 through a combination of corporate and personal donations, all of which will be donated to Orchards Children's Services.

Orchards Children's Services is an organization that aims to protect and nurture children by providing shelter, sustenance, and educational skill-building opportunities. Helping children and families for over 45 years, Orchards operates in Washtenaw, Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties by providing services to support individuals throughout their homes and communities. The men of Rosstache are proud to have this opportunity to help a truly great local charity.

Now that you know what we're doing and why, here's what's coming up over the next few weeks and how you can get involved. Starting next week we will be soliciting personal donations from members of the Ross community to sponsor individual Rosstachians. One needs to have gathered at least $15 in sponsorships to be part of the final judging on April 3rd. Many different awards will be provided, including "Best Cop Stache," "Scariest Moustache," and "Most Donations Received."

More information will be provided as Rosstache wraps up, but with over 99 MBAs participating, this promises to be the biggest and best Rosstache ever! For more information and photos please visit http://rosstache2008.blogspot.com and e-mail rosstacheleaders@umich.edu with any questions. Viva la stache!
