Ann Arbor, Mich., September 9, 2008--A new fitness program called BollyFit aims to get people in shape by combining elements from Indian classical dance, Punjabi Bhangra and Bollywood film music into a dynamic, aerobics dance workout.
More than just a fitness regime, BollyFit classes incorporate poetry verses, readings, and thought starters in the beginning/end of each class. Students are challenged to visualize those ideas during the week, while the real focus is learning Indian dance moves in high impact exercises.
"BollyFit is Fitness through Dance. Classes are designed to create a sense of balance in life with individual's spirit and energy through an exhilarating dance workout," says creator Anuja Rajendra. "Its spa-like in purpose, and the end result is a great way for people to work off those pounds. Many people become zombie like forms -BollyFit helps them emanate "presence" through dance," says Rajendra.
While increasingly popular Bollywood movies can showcase glamorous lifestyles, BollyFit offers the best of Bollywood - the artistry, fun, music and energy - to the masses. "Young or old, large or small - you can unleash the vitality within yourself to be a twinkling star, emanating energy in the movie of your life," says Rajendra.
